An updated look at the Pac-12 power rankings. The Oregon Ducks lead the pack, while Oregon State and ASU made a move following impressive wins.

Another week of exciting Pac-12 action is behind us. Every team except Washington has played at least one conference game, and while some teams have impressed (Oregon, Stanford, Oregon State), others have fallen flat thus far (Arizona, Utah).

Here is this week's installment of SB Nation Arizona's Pac-12 power rankings, compiled by staff writer Scott Coleman.

1. Oregon Ducks (4-0, 1-0)

The Ducks faced their first true test of the season on Saturday night and exceeded all expectations, defeating Arizona by a score of 49-0. This team is as talented as any in the nation, although they'll need to come out a bit sharper as the competition gets enough tougher. Oregon plays Washington State in Seattle Saturday.

2. Stanford Cardinal (3-0, 1-0)

The Cardinal were idle on Saturday, and they have a big road test at Washington looming on Thursday. A win would be huge for the program, especially as they look to continuing building after the Andrew Luck era.

3. USC Trojans (3-1, 1-1)

USC took care of business against Cal, looking very much like the talented team they are. The Trojans have next week off before taking on Utah next Thursday night.

4. Oregon St. Beavers (2-0, 1-0)

The Beavers continued to impress this weekend, knocking off nationally ranked UCLA on the road. This team still has only played two games, but they've looked as anyone in the conference. An interesting road test against Arizona should let us examine OSU's chances in the North even more.

5. Arizona St. Sun Devils (3-1, 1-0)

ASU rebounded nicely after a tough loss to Mizzou, steamrolling over a Utah team that was overwhelmed in nearly every aspect of the game at Sun Devil Stadium. When this team doesn't beat itself, they're really entertaining to watch. Arizona State will hit the road next weekend to take on the Cal Bears.

6. UCLA Bruins (3-1, 0-1)

The Bruins came out sloppy against Oregon State and paid the price dearly, falling at home by a touchdown. UCLA will look to even their conference record against lowly Colorado this week.

7. Arizona Wildcats (3-1, 0-1)

The Wildcats blew multiple early red zone opportunities against Oregon on Saturday night, and while the defense played well for the first 40 minutes or so, it eventually wore down and the flood gates opened. This is a young, talented team, but they showed they weren't ready to take the next step. UA's brutal schedule continues as Oregon State comes to Tucson next weekend.

8. Washington Huskies (2-1, 0-0)

This ranking isn't indicative of Washington's talent level, but the simple fact is we still don't know much about this team. They beat up on two cupcakes and were flattened by LSU on the road. The Huskies will have a chance to prove they are for real when they face Stanford on Thursday night.

9. Utah Utes (2-2, 0-1)

With momentum in their favor following a big win over BYU last week, the Utes were embarrassed by the Sun Devils in Tempe. A very rough stretch of schedule is about to arrive, beginning with a road test at USC next Thursday night.

10. California Golden Bears (1-3, 0-1)

Cal did not impress against a frustrated USC team on Saturday, and they paid the price with a 27-9 loss. The Bears have talent, but they're yet to put it all together for more than a series or two over the course of a game. They welcome in ASU to Berkeley next weekend in a game they really need to win to keep bowl hopes alive.

11. Colorado Buffaloes (1-3, 1-0)

Just when all hope seemed lost in Boulder, the Buffaloes pulled out an improbable 35-34 win over Washington State in the final seconds to secure their first victory of the season. There is still a lot of work left to be done, but the fact that the team did not give up should give the Colorado faithful some hope. UCLA comes to town next weekend.

12. Washington St. Cougars (2-2, 0-1)

The Cougs did very little to impress in the opening weeks of the Mike Leach era, and a home loss to Colorado is about as bad as you can get in Pac-12 play. WSU heads over the mountains to Seattle for No. 2 Oregon this week.

Things were going really, really well for the University of Arizona, and then they played Oregon. No. 22 Arizona was having an Oregon-esque run as of late. They were blowing out opponents and 3-0 heading into Saturday's matchup with the Ducks. The No.3 Oregon Ducks could care less. All they know how to do is win by a lot of points. And Oregon did just that by beating 'Zona by a final score of 49-0.

It looked good for the Arizona Wildcats for a while; they were down 10-0 at the half. It was a surprise to many, as most were expecting an offensive explosion from both teams. Oregon didn't want to disappoint the paid attendees at their home stadium. The Ducks came out to score an additional 39 straight points in the second half.

It was a bad night for Arizona's Matt Scott. The quarterback had been a double-threat the past three games. Oregon was ready for him. He was allowed only 212 yards on 23-of-45 attempts and rushed for a minuscule nine yards on five tries.

Box Score Hero: Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 21 yards on five carries.

Rankings Ramifications: This loss will probably drop No. 22 Arizona out of the Top 25. No. 3 Oregon have a perfect 4-0 record, but will likely stay where they are.

But Did They Cover? Oregon were 21-point favorites. The Wildcats didn't come close.

Next Week's Schedule: Oregon isn't heading too far away from home when they visit Washington State in Seattle. Arizona, probably not a fan of things related to Oregon, will welcome the Oregon Beavers to the desert. The Beavers upset UCLA earlier today.

The game pitting Oregon's Chip Kelly against Arizona's Rich Rodriguez was expected to be high scoring, seeing as both teams like to run up the score. Maybe those two explosive offenses will show up in the second half of the game. Currently, the Oregon Ducks are leading the Arizona Wildcats, 13-0.

The No. 2 ranked Oregon Ducks have displayed a defense that's been able to stop the No. 22 Arizona onslaught that others have been unable to. Wildcats quarterback Matt Scott has been a revelation for the team this season. He's a double-threat quarterback that Oregon has been able to hold to 104 yards passing and 13 yards running. At one point Scott went into the dressing room for an undisclosed injury. At the relief of Wildcat fans, he only missed two plays.

If Scott is at all hurt, it's a big deal for 'Zona. Scott has been second on the team in rushing to Ka'Deem Carey almost every game. Tonight is no different. Carey's rushed for 14 yards and Scott has ran for 13.

The Arizona Wildcats take on the Oregon Ducks on Saturday in what might be the most challenging game on their schedule. SB Nation's Arizona blog AZ Desert Swarm has a couple of posts up breaking down exactly why that might be, focusing on Oregon's dynamic offense. In the first post, they discuss Oregon's De'Anthony Thomas, nicknamed Black Mamba:

Thomas has worn the moniker well. Since bursting onto the collegiate scene at Oregon via Crenshaw High School, the Black Mamba has struck one opponent after another with lethal dose of offensive venom. At wide receiver, at tailback, on special teams, it doesn't matter: Thomas can hurt a team in so many ways, causing paralysis before dispatching victims with a loss.

Check out the full post for much more. The second post highlights the impact that a player like Thomas has on Oregon's offense, and how winning the time of possession battle might not benefit Arizona as much as expected:

[If] Arizona wins the time of possession battle by a wide margin: This is the weird thing against the Ducks, because I think Arizona probably loses in this situation. Keeping the ball out of Oregon's hands is important, of course, but again assuming Arizona doesn't force a bevvy of turnovers (like four or five), this situation actually bodes poorly for Arizona. In short, it means De'Anthony goes Black Mamba all over the Wildcats, who are trudging in moving the football down the field for scores to keep up with Oregon.

The Arizona Wildcats will have their hands full as they take on the No. 3 Oregon Ducks and their high-powered offense in a Pac-12 matchup in Eugene on Saturday.

The No. 22 Arizona Wildcats will have their hands full as they take on the No. 3 Oregon Ducks and their high-powered offense in a Pac-12 matchup in Eugene on Saturday. The Ducks are currently 23-point favorites, according to OddsShark.

The Wildcats offense is no slouch, however, as they currently rank fourth in FBS with an average of 604.7 scrimmage yards per game and 12th in scoring with 46.3 points per game. In last Saturday's 56-0 drubbing of South Carolina State, Arizona was led by senior Matt Scott, who completed 30 of 36 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns.

Heisman Trophy candidate De'Anthony Thomas leads the charge for the Ducks' offense. The 19-year-old phenom has has rushed 13 times for 228 yards and four touchdowns in 2012, and was just featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and billed as "the fastest man in football". The Ducks are currently fifth in the FBS in scoring with 54.0 points per game and seventh in total offense with 596.3 yards per game.

Kickoff in Eugene is slated for 7:30 p.m. PT, and the game will be televised on ESPN.

The Arizona Wildcats have been, knock on wood, fortunate enough to be relatively healthy as a whole this season. As the Oregon Ducks await on Saturday evening, UA head coach Rich Rodriguez has released his injury report.

Wide receiver and punt returner Richard Morrison is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. While his status for this weekend may be up in the air, many around Arizona would like to see someone else return punts. Morrison has muffled two punts this season (at home, too) and also fumbled in the red zone. If he does indeed play and is the main man returning punts, he will be on a short leash at Autzen Stadium.

The only other player listed is Greg Nwoko with a hip injury. Nwoko is yet to play this season.

RichRod also named his four senior captains for Saturday's game: quarterback Matt Scott, tight end Drew Robinson, defensive end Dominique Austin and punter Kyle Dugandzic.

Kickoff from Eugene is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT.

The Arizona Wildcats face the Oregon Ducks this weekend for their Pac-12 opener. UA has the playmakers to hang with the Ducks, although a few breaks will have to go their way.

The Arizona Wildcats face what will probably be their most difficult game of the season on Saturday night. Ignoring the fact that the Oregon Ducks might just be the best team in the nation, UA is heading into hostile territory for their first road game of the year, and they're doing so with a young and inexperienced defense.

The odds are heavily stacked against Arizona this week. The odds makers in Vegas nearly had the Cats as four-touchdown underdogs when the week began. Just about no one in the country is giving them much of a chance, and that's with cause. This is a program that has won more games this year (three) than they did in the first two months of the season last year.

So what must Arizona do in Autzen Stadium to pull the huge upset?

Run, Don't Pass:

If Oregon has possession of the football all game, the Wildcats are going to get torched defensively. In order for the defense to have a chance, the offense needs to ensure they have plenty of time to rest and refocus on the sidelines. This means running the football early and often on Saturday night.

Ka'Deem Carey has emerged as one of the best tailbacks on the west coast this year. He's yet to face a defense as fast as Oregon's is, but he has the talent and ability to have a big game. It's imperative that the coaching staff feeds Carey, Daniel Jenkins and even Taimi Tutogi the football to not only eat up yardage, but also the clock.

This isn't to say that Matt Scott shouldn't air the ball out some against UO's battered secondary. He should. But when the game is still within reach and the offense is ahead of the chains, run the football.

Tackle:

The Wildcats were notoriously bad tacklers under the Mike Stoops regimen in Tucson. The tackling has improved greatly under Rich Rodriguez and the new coaching staff, but there have still been some ugly moments in the open field, particularly against the speed of Oklahoma State.

Arm tackles do not work against players as talented, fast and elusive as De'Anthony Thomas and Kenjon Barner are. If Arizona doesn't wrap up on these players, and in-turn allows them to break away when they should have been down for a minimal gain, the defense has no chance against the explosive Ducks. UO thrives when they're running at a furious pace; if they're breaking off double-digit gains all night, the game will be over before you can say Puddles The Duck.

Take some chances:

Arizona is playing on the road, in a hostile environment and against the No. 3 ranked squad in the nation. Quite honestly, it's tough to see them winning the track meet in Eugene for 60 minutes without a couple of huge breaks going their way. As the Wildcats take the field on Saturday night, they need to come out fearless and believing in what has worked this season.

Matt Scott has missed a couple of receivers down the field this season; if there's even the slightest of openings, let the ball fly. Perhaps even work in a couple of trick plays, whether it be a reverse, statue of liberty or flea flicker. You know Oregon is going to have something prepared for their opponents, and it's important UA takes some chances of their own.

Final Prediction:

I think Arizona is going to hold their own during the first half. The offense is explosive enough to put points on the board and the defense can be really good when they pressure the backfield.

This being said, it's just too tough to imagine the Wildcats hanging in for 60 minutes against the Ducks and their high-flying offensive attack. In the end, a couple of big plays late lead Oregon to a 52-38 win.
