The Arizona Wildcats met rock bottom this afternoon in Boulder as they fell to the last place Colorado Buffaloes by a score of 49-28. With the loss, Arizona is all-but-guaranteed a 12th place finish in the conference with two games to play.

With a halftime score of 20-10, Arizona still had a chance to pull out the victory with a big effort in the second half. Unfortunately for UA and interim head coach Tim Kish, the team allowed two passing touchdowns in the third quarter that would essentially end the game with a quarter to play. Arizona scored three touchdowns in the final 16 minutes -- one of which was a 29-yard interception return from Tra'Mayne Bondurant -- but it would not be enough on Saturday.

With wins gusting as high as 70mph, Nick Foles experienced one of the worst games of his career. The senior quarterback threw for 352 yards, but tossed three interceptions and was completely immobile in the pocket. In a slight bit of good news, freshman Ka'Deem Carey had two rushing touchdowns, though he only touched the ball seven times on the ground.

Arizona football has not been at this low of a point in nearly a decade. The offense stinks, the defense stinks, special teams play stinks and the coaching staff has absolutely no idea what they are doing.

There are only two more miserable games left to be played before this season mercifully ends.

It's a tough day to be a fan of the Arizona Wildcats. Playing in winds up to 70mph, UA currently trails the Colorado Buffaloes by a score of 20-10 at halftime. The Buffaloes do not have a victory in conference play this year.

Colorado scored first on a 5-yard touchdown rush from Rodney Stewart. Arizona answered with a 25-yard field goal from Jason Bonanno after being stopped near the goal line.

The second quarter was full of action. Just minutes into the quarter, Tyler Hansen hit Tony Jones for a 5-yard touchdown strike through the air. The extra point was blocked to keep the score at 13-3. Arizona's KaDeem Carey bulldozed his way into the end zone to cut the lead to 13-10.

Unfortunately for Tim Kish and the Wildcats, the defense was unable to hold the Buffaloes once again. With just two minutes remaining in the half, Josh Ford rushed for a touchdown from 17 yards out. The extra point was converted to give CU a 20-10 lead.

Nick Foles has played well despite the windy conditions and completed 13 of 19 passes for 136 yards. Carey leads UA with 29 yards on the ground. Juron Criner has three receptions for 45 yards on the day.

If you're a fan of the Arizona Wildcats or Colorado Buffaloes, 2011 has not been a kind year to you. For Arizona, the program has suffered countless injuries to their defense and the offensive line has not given star quarterback Nick Foles any time to operate. Add on to the school firing their head coach of nearly nine years and it is easy to see why the frustration has built in Tucson

For the Buffaloes, the team remains in a transition period after the firing of Dan Hawkins. A program rich with football history, Colorado still does not have a win in Pac-12 play, though their best is probably this weekend against the Wildcats.

Here is the final injury report for Arizona:

CB Trevin Wade, leg, questionable
CB Shaquille Richardson, ankle, questionable
CB Cortez Johnson, concussion, probable

Imagine that: players in the Arizona secondary are hurt. The big loss here would obviously be All-Conference cornerback Trevin Wade, but most believe he will suit up on Saturday afternoon. The loss of Shaq Richardson would hurt in terms of depth, but he's not exactly irreplaceable.

The Arizona Wildcats have just three games remaining on their schedule in 2011 and are looking to end their season on a good note. Despite their struggles throughout most of the season, the Wildcats will be favored in two of their final three games. One of those games is Saturday's matchup against the Colorado Buffaloes.

The Buffs have not enjoyed their first season in the Pac-12 and are yet to record their first conference victory. CU knows their best chance at that victory comes this weekend against Arizona and the Wildcats cannot underestimate Colorado.

Arizona may not have a chance at a bowl game, but the team will not go down without a fight in 2011.

Other than their lone conference victory over UCLA a few weeks ago, not a thing has gone right for the Arizona Wildcats in 2011. They saw their defense get torn to shreds by injury, their offensive line routinely failing to give Nick Foles any kind of protection in the pocket, and saw their head coach of eight years get fired after a poor start.

For most in Tucson, the final three weeks of the football season cannot end soon enough. Fortunately for interim coach Tim Kish, his players continue to battle on a weekly basis and have a chance to finish as high as third in the Pac-12 North.

Is it likely? Probably not. This team still does not have a road win this season -- though their best chance is coming this Saturday against the struggling Colorado Buffaloes -- and still have a daunting challenge remaining as the team travels to Tempe in two weeks. And then the final game of the season will be no cakewalk either as Louisiana-Lafayette has surpassed all expectations in 2011 and is poised for their best finish in school history.

This is an Arizona team playing for nothing but pride. For the seniors, many of them have just three games left in their football playing careers. 180 minutes remain before the clock finally runs out. What better way to spend those final minutes than by winning the last three games of the season?

That quest begins on Saturday.
