The Arizona Wildcats hosted the Utah Utes on Saturday night, and things largely did not go Arizona's way. They squandered key opportunities throughout the evening and were eventually handed a 34-21 loss.

Nick Foles had two touchdowns in the game, both to David Douglas. The only other scoring that the Wildcats managed was a 29 yard rushing touchdown by Daniel Jenkins with under half a minute left in the fourth quarter.

You have to admire the Arizona coaching staff attempting to keep the pressure on by going for the onside kick with 23 seconds left and down by 13 points. Sadly, that didn't manage to go Arizona's way either, as the Utes were able to grab the ball and run out the clock.

Foles ended the game 25-for-43 with 326 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

If the Arizona offense hadn't waited until nearly the end of the first half to start scoring, the game may have ended up being a bit more competitive. Certainly this isn't the way the Wildcats envisioned this one.

The Arizona Wildcats were certainly hoping that they would fare better against the Utah Utes. Although they have closed the gap a bit, they still trail 27-14 in the fourth quarter.

Nick Foles brought Arizona back within 13 points as he completed a 42 yard touchdown pass to David Douglas midway through the third quarter. Both Arizona touchdowns in the game have come on Foles passes to Douglas. Foles has passed for 238 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Douglas has eight catches for 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Arizona has played a sloppy game, and nowhere is this more obvious than when looking at penalty yardage. Although the Utes have only been charged with one 15 yard penalty, the Wildcats have had nine penalties so far, for a whopping 81 yards. They also have the only two turnovers in the game, on Foles's interception and a fumble.

The first half of the game between the Utah Utes and the Arizona Wildcats wasn't pretty, and the Wildcats head into halftime trailing by a score of 20-7.

Arizona finally managed to get on the board late in the second quarter. Nick Foles capped off a long Arizona drive by connecting with David Douglas on a 23-yard touchdown pass. Foles has put together a solid first half, but had a very costly interception late in the first quarter which led to a Utah drive and a touchdown.

The Wildcats got the ball back after forcing the Utes to go three-and-out following Arizona's touchdown. Arizona had over two minutes to put together another drive and get themselves closer, but after Foles was sacked for a loss of ten yards, they were forced to punt on 4th and 20.

That punt immediately led to trouble, as Utah made it back into the red zone with over 0:30 in the half. Arizona managed to hold the Utes to a field goal as the first half ended, but now look at a 13-point deficit to start the third quarter.

The Wildcats have managed to get on the board, and the defense managed to hold the Utes scoreless in the second quarter, but the key in the second half will be making the most of offensive opportunities and limiting mistakes.

In the early goings of the game between the visiting Utah Utes and the hometown Arizona Wildcats, the Utes have kept the game fairly one-sided. After the Wildcats got out of the first quarter only down 3-0, Utah came out swinging in the second quarter, now leading 17-0.

Both teams squandered chances in the first quarter, but Arizona twice made it to the edge of the Utah red zone and both times were turned away without a score.

The Utah offense had not been all that spectacular either, having to settle for a field goal after making it to Arizona's 15 yard line. But the Utes managed to come out roaring in the second quarter Jon Hays lobbed a 65 yard touchdown pass to DeVonte Christopher, putting the finishing touches on a 90 yard drive that began in the closing minutes of the first quarter.

Nick Foles had a pass intercepted by Matt Martinez at the Arizona 30 yard line. A few moments later, John White had an 18-yard carry for another Utah touchdown to put the Utes up 17-0.

The Wildcats will need to focus in the second half. Utah's defense is keeping the pressure on, and their offense is beginning to wake up. Neither of these are good things for Arizona.

With a large homecoming crowd expected this weekend, the Arizona Wildcats will look to claim their second conference victory of the year over the Utah Utes.

For the Wildcats, it is all about finding balance on the offensive side of the ball. If this team becomes too reliant on the pass, the Utes will be able to sit back and contain Nick Foles and the receiving corps for sixty minutes. If UA can effectively use their 'full-house' formation and receive solid production on the ground from Keola Antolin, Kadeem Carey and Daniel Jenkins, this team has a good chance to win.

On paper, the Arizona Wildcats and Utah Utes appear to be two evenly matched teams. While their philosophies differ, each side is looking for a much-needed conference victory this afternoon. Here is Ted Miller's final injury report:

Arizona:
CB Shaquille Richardson, ankle, doubtful
CB Cortez Johnson, concussion, out
WR Dan Buckner, shoulder, out

Utah:
OG Latu Heimuli, foot, out
LB J.J. Williams, foot, out
WR DeVonte Christopher, ankle, probable

For Arizona, the loss of Dan Bucker will be felt immediately. Bucker has arguably been the Wildcats' best and most consistent receiver and his size is valuable when acting as a blocker. After missing the game last weekend because of a suspension, Shaq Richardson will likely miss the game as well.

The Utes come in as a pretty healthy team. They will only be without two players who see the field regularly and the addition of DeVonte Christopher can only help quarterback Jon Hays.

It is homecoming weekend in Tucson and the Arizona Wildcats are looking for their second win in three weeks. The Utah Utes have struggled in the Pac-12 throughout their first year, but the team is looking to build off a big victory and build for the future.

Here are a few keys to the game:

Containing John White:

LaMichael James, Stepfan Taylor and Chris Polk all torched the Arizona defense and Polk had a record-breaking performance. If UA allows Utah's star running back, John White, to get out into the open field, the team does not have much of a chance on Saturday.

Converting Red Zone Opportunities:

Arizona had multiple chances in the red zone last weekend against Washington and failed to capitalize on multiple drives. This has been a reoccurring theme in 2011 and it cannot continue against Utah. Jason Bonano has done a solid job with the kicking game, but with a struggling defense, the Wildcats need as many points as possible. No lead is safe in Tucson.

Keola Antolin, KaDeem Carey, Taimi Tutogi and Daniel Jenkins:

These four players will be running the football today; someone needs to step up.

Antolin, a solid-yet-unspectacular senior, is usually good for a few yards on every rush, but he lacks the big-play ability to break a game open. Carey, a freshman, has shown flashes of brilliance this year and continues to see his role increase, but his breakout game has eluded him thus far. Tutogi acts as more of a fullback, though he has seen him number of attempts increase in recent weeks. And while Jenkins may not get a ton of action, he is a capable pass catcher in the backfield.

If UA can get a big game from a few of these players, they have a good chance to win. With a struggling offensive line and offensive coordinator known for abandoning the run early, it is imperative that Arizona establishes the run early and often on Saturday.

Prediction:

These are two evenly matched teams and both are hungry for a win. Utah features a talented running back and solid defense, but Nick Foles and the homecoming crowd prove to be too much for the Utes. Arizona wins a close one 34-28.

To say the Arizona Wildcats' defensive unit has been bad in 2011 would be a huge understatement. Three of Arizona's first six conference opponents have produced the league's offensive player of the week. And it wasn't like those winners just had a nice game; they set school and personal records against the UA defense.

With household name players such as LaMichael James, Stepfan Taylor and Chris Polk gashing the Wildcats on the ground, will it be Utah's John White who has the record-breaking performance on Saturday?

Anthony Gimino of the Tucson Citizen has the story:

He is the nation's 15th-leading rusher, averaging 114.38 yards per game. He has rushed for at least 150 yards in half of Utah's eight games.

"Very quick. Can get to the perimeter very, very fast," Arizona interim coach Tim Kish said.

"They have a big, thick fullback in there (253-pound Shawn Asiata) who does a great job of blocking for him."

Simply put, if Arizona allows White to run all over them, it's going to be a long day in Tucson. The team failed to wrap up on tackles against Washington and UA fans saw what happened. Expect a similar result this weekend if the Wildcats are unable to get a strong push from their front-seven.
