A project that originally started many months ago by athletic director Greg Byrne is now complete for Arizona Football. The structures have been set, the LED panels have been put in place, the new sound system has been installed and the two smaller video boards have been posted as well.

There weren't many stadiums in America that needed an upgrade more than Arizona Stadium did and now it features one of the biggest scoreboards in college football. Better yet, construction on the north end zone project is hopefully set to begin this winter.

Here is a great photo courtesy of AD Greg Byrne (@Greg_Byrne). The old video board -- which is outlined on the new one for comparisons sake -- remains standing above the north end zone, though it will be taken down once the season ends in order for construction on the new seats and luxury suites to begin.

Opening kickoff is 15 days away.

Despite the college football season starting in just under three weeks, the construction going on at Arizona Stadium is in full swing. With the steel supports in place and the LED panels in Tucson after making the trip across the Pacific Ocean, the Wildcats new scoreboard is starting to come together. The massive structure has been a six month project and it is pretty amazing to see the strides the construction team has made in that time span.

Athletic Director Greg Byrne gave us an update on the scoreboard this morning. Here is what the south end zone currently looks like:

It will be quite the sight to behold in three weeks on opening weekend as the Wildcats host the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks for the first game of the season. Byrne has acknowledged that time is running short and there is a chance the project will not be completed in time for September 3, but everyone expects the new scoreboard to be up, running, bright and loud for the 7pm kickoff.

The college football season is less than just two months away and the renovations at Arizona Stadium are in full swing as the university prepares for the upcoming year.

For a project that started a few months ago, the structures and supports for Arizona's new massive scoreboard are already in place and the HD LCD screen is making it's way over on a boat from China. It's expected to arrive within two or three weeks.

After a jump there's a picture of the massive structure. This screen is going to be huge, folks. Add this to the new north endzone project Athletic Director Greg Byrne has been pushing and Arizona Stadium is going to be one of the nicest on the west coast.
