The Phoenix Suns scored 27 points in each of the game's four quarter as they beat the Los Angeles Clippers 108-99 in a crucial road win. Steve Nash led the team with 23 points and 13 assists and came just three rebounds away from a triple double. The best sign of his returning good health, Nash was 3-3 from three-point range.

Defensively, Channing Frye and even Hakim Warrick did a solid job against rookie sensation Blake Griffin. Griffin fouled out of the game in the fourth quarter after expressing his frustration at a difficult game. He scored 17 points but needed 18 shots to do it and had a career-low two rebounds in the game.

Frye finished strong with all 19 of his points coming in the second half including 5-8 from three. Jared Dudley added 14 points of his own and six rebounds along with great infectious energy and effort.

Another bright spot for the Suns was Zabian Dowdell who stepped in for Aaron Brooks who was suspended for this game. Dowdell played 13 minutes backing up Nash and finished with eight points (4-8 shooting) and played his typical solid defense. The bench unit with Dowdell was able to extend a three-point lead to 11 points over a six minute stretch while Nash rested.

The Suns stay in L.A. until their next game against the Lakers on Tuesday.

Phoenix Suns backup point guard Aaron Brooks was suspended for one game by the NBA according to a report by Arizona Republic beat writer, Paul Coro. Brooks received a technical foul in the fourth quarter of the Suns game on Friday after he threw the ball towards an official. The ball hit the official in the leg. Brooks appeared to be upset about not receiving a foul call on a drive to the basket.

The news comes just a few hours before the Suns are scheduled to play the Los Angeles Clippers today in a 12:30 game. Guard Zabian Dowdell will likely get the minutes playing behind Steve Nash.

Brooks was suspended once before this season by his former team, the Houston Rockets. In a game on February 5 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooks was taken out of the game and according to this report in the Houston Chronicle, instead of heading to the bench, he went to the locker room. The team suspended him for the next game.

The Los Angeles Clippers are a dangerous team, far more so then their reputation and record (27-43) would indicate. The Phoenix Suns found that out once already this season when they went into Staples Center and got beat by Blake Griffin's fresh new team on December 26.

The Suns feel like they are a good team when healthy and having Channing Frye back from shoulder injury and Steve Nash at least playing better even if he's not fully recovered from his pubic symphysis injury.

"I feel the same as I felt in New Orleans," Nash said after Friday night's win over the Warriors, "I feel much better after the injury but still not 100 percent."

Nash, a part owner of the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps, flew to Canada for the team's opening game on Saturday. He managed to squeeze in the appearance between the Suns games on Friday and Sunday.

The Clippers are also hopeful that getting one of their key players back from injury will help them as well. Steve Perrin from Clips Nation points out that the Clippers are 7-17 without guard Eric Gordon and 15-5 in 20 games he's played. Gordon returned to the lineup last night from a wrist injury and scored 29 points against the Cavaliers.

The game tips at 12:30 p.m. local time on My45 and will be broadcast on Sports 620 radio. Fans can follow along during the game with other Suns fans at the live game thread at Bright Side of the Sun.
