Eight years after joining the Phoenix Suns, point guard Steve Nash is packing his bags and is headed to the Los Angeles Lakers. Nash kept it classy and left an audio message for Suns fans, thanking them for their loyalty and wishing the organization the best in their quest for an NBA championship.
Fans can listen to Nash's message on the social media website, hallo.
Suns fans will no longer be able to see one of the league's best point guards in orange and purple, and seeing him in the Laker purple and gold will be bizarre at first. The Suns originally drafted Nash out of Santa Clara with the No. 15 overall pick in the 1996 draft. The organization later traded Nash to the Dallas Mavericks in 1998, but Nash returned to the Suns in 2004.
As a Sun, Nash won consecutive MVP awards in 2005 and 2006, but was unable to bring an NBA championship to the city of Phoenix in his eight seasons there.
