NBA Free Agency 2012 Rumors: Goran Dragic To Visit Phoenix Suns

If Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns ends up leaving in free agency, there will be a great need for guards, particularly a new starting point guard. Could they reunite with one of their former teammates?

Marc Stein of ESPN files this report that has Goran Dragic and the Houston Rockets struggling to come eye-to-eye, leaving the door open for the Suns to swoop in and try and sign the guard.

The Rockets met with Dragic on Monday in Houston and were hopeful of reaching terms quickly with the Slovenian, who averaged 16.3 points and 7.3 assists in 32 games after the All-Star break following an injury to Kyle Lowry.

But Dragic left town without a deal, sources said, leading one source close to the process to say that the lefty's expected return to the Rockets is "not going to happen." Dragic is scheduled Tuesday to visit the Phoenix Suns, who dealt him to the Rockets at the 2011 trade deadline.

Phoenix knows all about Dragic, as he was a backup point guard for Nash from 2008 to 2011 before being dealt at last year's trade deadline to the Houston Rockets. Dragic has proven that he can be a starter with the Rockets when Kyle Lowry got injured, so it makes sense that Phoenix would pursue a solid point guard talent to be their new starter.
