The Phoenix Suns stayed on the fringe of the 2012 NBA Draft lottery, and stuck right at the pick where everyone expected them to be. The Suns landed the 13th overall pick and they'll have to use it wisely if they expect to get their team back on the winning path.
Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress releases his latest mock draft, and it has the Suns taking Austin Rivers from Duke. RIvers would definitely provide Phoenix with a dynamic backcourt weapon who can create his own shot and occasionally handle the offense, and could be a nice complement (or replacement) to Steve Nash. Rivers could be a gem midway in the first round.
The Suns are in a serious transition phase, with many key roster pieces entering free agency, making it difficult to pinpoint just one area of need. Regardless of whether Steve Nash and Aaron Brooks return, their backcourt and wing rotation could use a serious upgrade, which could make a prolific scoring shot-creating guard like Austin Rivers very attractive here.
Talk about how well Rivers would fit in with the Suns by heading on over to Bright Side of the Sun. Discuss how good Rivers is with Duke basketball fans at Duke Basketball Report.
