It would have seemed absurd a month ago, but the Phoenix Suns currently have a very real chance of making it into the NBA postseason. They're just one game behind the Denver Nuggets, and a game and a half behind the suddenly-slumping defending NBA champs the Dallas Mavericks, who have lost two straight and have dropped six of their last 10 games.

The Suns made a huge statement this weekend with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, regardless of whether the Lakers were playing without Kobe Bryant due to injury. Phoenix is now two games over .500 and have games remaining on the schedule against the Nuggets and the Utah Jazz, who are currently a half-game behind the Suns in the Western Conference.

The Suns are the No. 9 team in the conference as of Monday. Making it above the postseason cutoff line and into the top 8 is a definite possibility, particularly if the Suns can continue to win and the Mavs and Nuggets continue to falter.

It will be an interesting couple of weeks. Don't write the Suns off just yet.
