2012 NBA schedule: Christmas highlights an otherwise light early week of basketball

The Phoenix Suns play only one game from Monday to Thursday, getting some much-needed rest.

USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns play only one game in the next four days and that's a home game against the New York Knicks on NBATV on Wednesday, Dec. 26.

The rest of the league will stay busy as the Christmas holiday provides fans with some big matchups as well as some much-needed downtime.

There are no games on Tuesday but five games make up the Christmas Day schedule. The Boston Celtics will visit the Brooklyn Nets at 10 a.m. MT on ESPN. The New York Knicks travel to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers at 1 p.m. MT on ABC, followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder facing the Heat in Miami at 3:30 p.m. MT in a rematch of last year's finals. ESPN finishes off the night with a doubleheader of the Houston Rockets at the Chicago Bulls at 6 p.m. MT and the Denver Nuggets at the red-hot Los Angeles Clippers at 8:30 p.m. MT.

On Wednesday, the schedule gets back to normal with 13 games, including the Bulls visiting the Indiana Pacers, the Houston Rockets at the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Lakers visiting the Denver Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors taking on the Jazz in Utah.
