Jared Dudley is Suns top player for week

The small forward's scrappy, high-energy play led the Suns to two victories last week, including an upset of the Memphis Grizzlies.

USA TODAY Sports

After embracing his new role as the Phoenix Suns' starting small forward, Jared Dudley has thrived and was named the team's top player for last week by Bright Side of the Sun.

The 27-year-old Dudley averaged 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in an average of 41 minutes per game last week. He had a fantastic game in the Suns huge 82-80 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 12 at US Airways Arena, posting a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds, while adding five assists and three steals.

Dudley followed up one strong performance with another, scoring a season-high 22 points and adding four rebounds, five assists and three steals in the Suns' 99-84 win over the Utah Jazz last Friday night.

Bright Side of the Sun cites Dudley's re-emergence as the scrappy and high-energy "Junkyard Dog" persona as a big reason why the Suns (9-15) were able to rattle off two big wins in a row last week.
