The Suns defeated the Denver Nuggets 110-100 on Monday night, overcoming some early difficulties and foul trouble in doing so. Goran Dragic lead the team with 21 points and seven assists, and Marcin Gortat had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Beasley and Jared Dudley also chipped in with 16 and 15 points a piece.
SB Nation's Suns blog, Bright Side of the Sun, was happy with the win:
It was poetic justice in the end as Dragic (21 points, 7 assists) led the team to victory, including a huge three to make the score 100-96 with 3:10 left and a jumper to help ice the game at the 1:40 mark, while (Sebastian)Telfair cheered on from the bench. Not to be forgotten was the contribution by the much maligned Markieff Morris, who chipped in with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and the best +/- of any Sun (+24).
Morris, in his second year out of Kansas, is averaging only seven points and 4.4 rebounds a game this season, so it should be encouraging for Suns fans to see a nice performance out of him.
The guys at Bright Side of the Sun were also happy to get a win against the Nuggets, a team that has dominated the Suns as of late:
This was an important victory for the Suns to even their record at 4-4 against a team that has given them fits, and by fits I mean ass whippings, for the last two seasons. It not only exorcised the Denver demons, but gave the Suns their first win against what appears to be a quality opponent. The result matched the effort and the fans got free tacos.
The win brings the Suns' record to 4-4 on the season. They next play on Wednesday, when the Chicago Bulls come to town.
