The Phoenix Suns open up their regular season by welcoming the Golden State Warriors into America West Arena. It's the official beginning of the post Steve Nash era for the Suns. Head coach Alvin Gentry has turned the reigns of the offense over to point guard Goran Dragic, who is back in Phoenix after a year and a half with the Houston Rockets.
Dragic isn't the only newcomer looking to make a good impression on the home crowd. Newcomers Luis Scola and Michael Beasley join Dragic in the front court. Shooting guard Jared Dudley to Suns.com that he sees Dragic as the leader of the team.
"I thought him leaving, going to Houston and starting has helped his confidence, helped his maturity," swingman Jared Dudley said. "He definitely is the face of the franchise now. It's his show."
One problem the Suns have is they're not entirely sure which members of the Warriors they'll be playing against. Both point guard Stephen Curry and center Andrew Bogut practiced earlier this week but it remains unclear if either will be available for Wednesday's game. Here's a look at the projected starters:
Suns: PG - Goran Dragic, SG - Jared Dudley, SF - Michael Beasley, PF - Luis Scola, C - Marcin Gortat
Warriors: PG: Jarret Jack, SG - Klay Thompson, SF - Harrison Barnes, PF - David Lee, C - Festus Ezeli
Tip-off for Wednesday's game is set for 7:00 p.m. PT. It's being broadcast on Fox Sports Arizona and can be heard on 92.3 KTAR-FM.
