NBA preseason, Phoenix Suns: Starting lineup clicks against Nuggets

The Phoenix Suns wrapped up their preseason with a big win over Denver.

The Phoenix Suns concluded a successful preseason on Friday night, knocking off the Denver Nuggets by a score of 88-72. The Suns really played well throughout, especially their starting five. For a team with a bunch of moving parts this season, that has to be reassuring to head coach Alvin Gentry.

Here is a little of what SB Nation's Suns blog, Bright Side of the Sun, took away from the game:

"The first unit of the Suns was in sync once again tonight, with the bench still struggling to find their rhythm. Denver fought back in the second quarter and made it a close game, but the Suns starting five proved to be too much for the short-handed Nuggets."

Michael Beasley was the star for Phoenix, scoring 29 points while shooting 13-for-21 from the field. Beasley also led the team with 10 rebounds, including three on the offensive end. Goran Dragic added 13 points and six assists in 26 minutes, although he also turned the ball over four times. Shannon Brown was one of the few bench players to make a real impact on the game, scoring 10 points.

The Suns ended their preseason schedule with a 4-3 record, including a perfect 3-0 mark at home. They will open their season next week against Golden State on Halloween night.
