The Phoenix Suns recorded their second win of the season on Monday with a 102-91 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Steve Nash led the way for Phoenix with 21 points and nine assists, just barely missing his second double-double of the year.
Both teams battled to a relative standstill through the game's first half, with the Suns holding on to a four-point lead at 51-47. The Warriors started the second half with two straight three-pointers from Stephen Curry, and the Suns fought back to reclaim a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Suns sealed the deal in the fourth quarter behind three pointers by Ronnie Price, Channing Frye, Jared Dudley and Steve Nash. Phoenix was four-for-17 on three-pointers prior to the fourth quarter, but four more threes in the game's final period sealed the deal.
Markieff Morris, the Suns' first round draft pick from last year's draft, was impressive with 16 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes of action. The rookie energized the Suns time and again when the team struggled to find its shot, knocking down a timely three-pointer in the third quarter and recording an assist for a Ronnie Price three-pointer in the fourth quarter as well. His performance will likely earn him more minutes moving forward.
Nash posted his best shooting game of the season with 21 points on nine field goals, including four three-pointers. The Suns veteran proved that he can still score when he needs to and quenches some of the early season concern about Nash's shooting touch.
The Suns move to 2-3 on the season with this win. Phoenix's next game will be on the road against the struggling Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

This is the kind of win the Suns need to consistently get this season if they want to make a run at a playoff spot. The Warriors are marginally improved this year, but playing them at home when one of their key starters is out is a situation in which the Suns need to take care of business, and today they did exactly that.
