The Polish Hammer laid down his vengeance upon the Minnesota Timberwolves, one of the few teams playing for less than the Phoenix Suns these days. Marcin Gortat's 20 points and 16 rebounds led the team in a needed victory over a team missing their best player (Kevin Love, who was out with a groin injury).
With the loss, the Timberwolves now have the league's worst record, having dropped 11 straight and 22 of their last 26 games. Love, the league's leading rebounder with 15.2 a game, has missed six of Minny's last eight games, and the team obviously needs every last bit of his talent. Michael Beasley's 24 points and 11 rebounds weren't enough.
Phoenix managed a win while allowing veterans Steve Nash and Grant Hill to sit the entire second and fourth quarters. In Nash's stead, Aaron Brooks had a solid game with 19 points (on 8-for-13 shooting) and six assists. Hakim Warrick and Hill each contributed 17 points.
Now out of the playoff picture, Phoenix continues to crawl towards the .500 mark and bring some respectability to the end of the season. They face the New Orleans Hornets on Friday, a team that just clinched its playoff spot.
