The Phoenix Suns are set to get their new, shortened preseason training camp underway, according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic.

Following the lockout, the 2011-2012 NBA season is scheduled to kick off on Christmas Day, which leaves teams precious little time to officially train and get ready. The Suns will begin two-a-day workouts on Sunday at Grand Canyon University. The workouts will take place in the mornings and evenings and will be closed to the public.

There will be four two-a-days and an invitation scrimmage before the Suns return to US Airways Center on Friday. From Friday, the team will have only four additional days to practice before facing the Denver Nuggets in Denver and at home in their only two preseason games, on December 20 and December 22, respectively. One of those downtown practices is set to be opened to the public, although no announcement as of yet what the date will be for that. The Suns will play their first regular-season game at home on December 26 against the New Orleans Hornets.
