The Phoenix Suns aren't coming into this season with high expectations; they'd love to get to the playoffs, but even that might be an uphill climb with only an abbreviated year to try and get there.
Phoenix has a projected 75:1 odds to win the NBA championship, putting them on equal footing with the Nuggets, the Nets, the Rockets and the Jazz. All of those teams appear to be in rebuilding mode, and so do the Suns. Phoenix will have an uphill climb to get back to the title game, and will probably need to score a lot of upsets.
Phoenix has a better shot to get to the NBA Finals; the Suns are given 30:1 odds to win the Western Conference Finals. Steve Nash will really have to summon something special to bring Phoenix their first ever NBA championship.
Bright Side of the Sun has a long list of reasons why the odds are so long.
