NBA Fan Voice: Despite How Stern David And Billy Hunter Act, You Still Matter

We are participating in #NBAFanVoice day as part of an internet-wide effort to remind the NBA powers on both sides of the labor dispute who butters their bread. In all the talk about BRI and salary cap, neither side is doing more than paying lip service to the fans who fund their TV deals and buy their overpriced tickets and jerseys.

The business of basketball is complicated. So is the game. There are folks who specialize in the details of the Collective Bargaining Agreement that spell out how the owners and players share all the wealth. There are coaches and experts who understand all aspects of the game and turn those details into the sport we love.

↵

Then there are the fans who are willing to invest their time and spend their money to be entertained. These are the most important party in the NBA lockout negotiations and yet neither side seems truly interested in what they have to say.

↵

How else do you explain all the time wasted by the union and owners to get to the point that they finally brought in a third party mediator to help (eventually) reach an agreement that could have been found months ago?

↵

Players, please drop your dumb "blood issue" stance on a hard cap. The revenue split itself is a hard cap and the rest is just details about who gets paid by whom and which team has the biggest collection of stars.

↵

Owners, stop pretending that guaranteed profits in any way resemble capitalism. If you want to be protected from your own bad decisions, go work behind the counter at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

↵

Get 'er done, fellers. We are tired of your bickering and our patience is not unlimited.

We encourage you to participate in #NBAFanVoice Day either via Twitter with the hash tag or if you have more to say, go to our Facebook page and fire away. Don't let these fools forget who lays the golden eggs they are fighting over.
