In one game Diana Taurasi nearly eclipsed her season totals with the Mercury this season. Team U.S.A. Women dominated the Brazilian National Team 99-67 for the game behind a strong performance from Taurasi.
For the game Taurasi chipped in with 16 points and 7 assists.
On the season with the Mercury she has totaled 21 points and 5 assists in two games. The knee injury seems to have healed up well as she had a spring in her step on both ends of the floor.
Starting point guard Sue Bird did not make the trip with the team. “I talked to Sue today. She's doing good. She'll be back with the team as soon as she feels fit, but she'll be there when the real games start. She'll be there,” commented Taurasi after the game.
The final score obviously displays the route that was at hand and it started with the play of Taurasi. She got the game started hitting a tough bucket as the shot-clock expired. From there she facilitated the offense as a veteran leader does.
From here the women head to Manchester England to face Great Britain in their final tune-up before the Olympics begin. That game will be available on ESPN3 at 4:10 local time on July 18th.
