The Phoenix Mercury's schedule has been out and available for a while now, but the TV Schedule was released today. During the 2012 season the team will appear on FS Arizona (and FS Arizona Plus) six times, ESPN twice, and ABC one time to start the season.
The season kicks off at the defending WNBA Champs house on Sunday, May 20th. That will be a tough way to gauge the new look Mercury minus Penny Taylor and with Samantha Prahalis. That game will air at 9:30am local time on ABC.
One of the highlights of schedule is the Mercury getting on National TV during ESPN's celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Title IV funding on June 23rd at 6pm local time. That is a very good primetime slot against one of the more notable WNBA franchise's in the Los Angeles Sparks.
All games will stream on phoenixmercury.com via LiveAccess for fans to watch except for the Nationally televised games.
When the team comes home for the first time to host the Los Angeles Sparks they will be broadcast on FS Arizona. The home opener is May, 26th and tips at 7pm local time. This will be the third game of the season for the Mercury after going to Tulsa between the season and home openers.
If you noticed a large gap between July 13th and the next Mercury game it is because of this years Summer Olympics. One of the members of this years National Team is the Mercury's own Diana Taurasi. It is always an interesting scheduled break every four years for the Olympics to accommodate the players selected.
It could be a fast start for the Mercury this year after finishing 19-15 last year and making the Playoffs. The team kicks off the season against the defending champs and then they play five combined games against Tulsa and Los Angeles, both of which did not make the Playoffs last season.
All of the action can be streamed or seen live on TV, but don't forget to get out to U.S. Airways Center for live Mercury action! Basketball never stops in Arizona in downtown Phoenix and Mercury tickets start as low as $10 a piece.
