Where In The World Are The Mercury?

When the WNBA season ends the individual women of the Phoenix Mercury do not stop playing basketball, they just pick up a new jersey, in a new country, for a new team.

Jennifer Stewart-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Basketball never stops for the women of the WNBA as one season ends, the next begins immediately. For the members of the Mercury they walk through the airport looking to leave this forgettable season behind them on the tarmak.

For the younger players like Krystal Thomas and Samantha Prahalis, both likely major parts of the rotation next season, this is invaluable experience.

Geographically speaking every member of the team will have one or more teammates in close proximity, but that is like saying our "neighbors in Los Angeles." With three headed to Russia, two to Israel, three to the general Asian region, and the rest scattered through Europe this will be a time to grow as players and bond through separation.

The list was comprised mostly by Ben York of the Phoenix Mercury:

DeWanna Bonner - Russia (Nadezhda Orenburg)

Candice Dupree - Russia (Spartak)

Briana Gilbreath - Poland (Matizol Lider Pruszkow)

Alexis Hornbuckle - NA

Charde Houston - Israel (Maccabi Ashdod)

Lynetta Kizer - South Korea (KB Stars)

Samantha Prahalis Israel (Maccabi Ramat Hen)

Nakia Sanford - South Korea (Woori Hansae)

Dymond Simon - Slovakia (Piestanske Cajky)

Diana Taurasi - Russia (UMMC Ekaterinburg)

Penny Taylor - NA (Rehabbing)

Krystal Thomas - China (Jiangsu Phoenix)

Avery Warley - NA
