NHL Free Agency: Coyotes Re-Sign Kyle Chipchura To 1-Year Deal

The Phoenix Coyotes captured the 2011-12 Pacific Division title and made it all the way to the Western Conference semifinals during the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs. With new ownership in place and a guarantee that the team will remain in Arizona, the front office is hard at work making sure that next season's team will be even stronger. On Friday, they ensured that forward Kyle Chipchura will be around for the coming year.

Sarah McLellan at The Republic reports that the Coyotes have signed Chipchura to a new, one-year deal. Chipchura was an integral part of the fourth line in the postseason and during the regular season set career highs for himself in assists (13) and points (16).

"Kyle is a hard-working, versatile forward who brings toughness and grit to our lineup," General Manger Don Maloney said in a statement. "We are happy to have him back."

Chipchura has been in the NHL since 2007 and played for the Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks before coming to the Coyotes.
