Coyotes Agree To One-Year Contract With Defensemen Chris Summers

The Phoenix Coyotes continute their busy offseason as it was announced on Wednesday that defenseman Chris Summers has accepted his qualifying offer as a restricted free agent, agreeing to a one-year contract with Phoenix.

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers appeared in only 21 games for the 'Yotes during the 2011-12 campaign, recording three assists. He also saw time in 28 games with the Portland Pirates of the AHL, collecting two assists and 37 penalty minutes (PIM).

The 24-year-old has registered 2-11-13 in 109 career AHL games with the Pirates and the San Antonio Rampage. He was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft.
