Coyotes Beat Kings Twice In Split Squad Preseason Action

NHL Game Summary - Los Angeles at Phoenix, Game One

Final Score: Phoenix 2. Los Angeles 1 (OT)

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Shane Doan's power-play goal 3:54 into overtime lifted Phoenix to a 2-1 preseason win over the Los Angeles Kings.

It was a split squad game for both teams, as the clubs played another contest in Los Angeles.

Doan assisted on Kyle Wellwood's power-play tally with 1:43 left in regulation. Ilya Bryzgalov made 24 saves for the Coyotes.

Alexei Ponikarovsky scored 12 seconds into the second period for the Kings. Jonathan Bernier stopped all 18 shots he faced in the first two periods, while Jeff Zatkoff allowed two goals on 20 shots the rest of the way.

Final Score: Phoenix 3, Los Angeles 1

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Mikkel Boedker, Brett MacLean, and Eric Belanger each lit the lamp, as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Los Angeles Kings, 3-1, in preseason action.

Al Montoya played the entire game in net and made 19 saves for the Coyotes.

Brayden Schenn scored the lone goal for the Kings, who got 18 saves from Jonathan Quick.

It was a split squad game for both teams, as the clubs played another contest in Phoenix. The Coyotes won that game by a 2-1 score in overtime.
