Phoenix Coyotes Keep Win Streak Alive, Down Edmonton Oilers 5-0

The Coyotes were firing on all cylinders on Tuesday night, shutting out the Edmonton Oilers by a count of 5-0. Martin Hanzal and Lee Stempniak both scored twice for Phoenix, while Ilya Bryzgalov shut out the Oilers to lead the Yotes in winning their seventh straight.

Edmonton never really had a chance in this contest. The Coyotes came out firing, outshooting the visiting Oilers 16-4 in the first, on their way to the win. The Oilers' netminder, Devan Dubnyk, did his part to weather the storm, but Phoenix proved to be too much offensively as the game went on, scoring two goals in the second and third periods.

In the Phoenix net, Ilya Bryzgalov continued his hot run, not having lost a game yet this month in regulation. Bryz stopped all 23 shots he faced en route to his first shutout of the season.

Bryzgalov certainly did not do it by himself, however. He received a lot of help from his defensemen, each of who finished with a 'plus' rating on the stat sheet. Recent call-up Oliver Ekman-Larsson may have solidified himself along the blue line for the near future for the Yotes, finishing with an assist and a plus-1 rating. David Schlemko also finished with a pair of assists.

Offensively, it was Stempniak leading the way with three points, including those two goals. Wojtek Wolski also added a goal and assist of his own.

Following the win, the Coyotes will have quite a bit of down time before their next game, when they host the Anaheim Ducks at Jobing.com Arena.
