Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan played for a $1.5 million prize Sunday, with the winner of the WGC-Accenture Match Play finals taking $600,000 more than the loser. Kuchar knocked off the defending champion Mahan for his fifth PGA Tour win.

Matt Kuchar earned his second huge payday in under a calendar year, earning $1.5 million by beating Hunter Mahan in the finals of the WGC-Accenture Match Play tournament.

When Kuchar and Mahan squared off, there was more than just a trophy on the line: the winner of the tournament makes $1.5 million, while the second-place finisher makes $875,000 -- a little bit under 60 percent of the grand prize. Kuchar jumped out to a four-hole lead, and although it got interesting, he knocked off the defending champion, holding on for a 2 and 1 win.

Kuchar finished last year at No. 11 on the money list, thanks mainly to a heaping $1.7 million from his win in The Players Championship that accounted for more than half of his earnings on the year. It's the fifth PGA Tour win for the player ranked No. 23 in the world.

The guys who lost to Kuchar and Mahan also had something good to play for: Jason Day and Ian Poulter played the third-round match, which wasn't just for consolation with the winner taking over $100,000 more than the loser. Day got the win 1up.

Here's the breakdown of how much money each player made, based on how far they advanced in the tournament.

1. Matt Kuchar, $1.5 million

2. Hunter Mahan, $875,000

3. Jason Day, $615,000

4. Ian Poulter, $500,000

5-8. Steve Stricker, Webb Simpson, Robert Garrigus, Graeme McDowell, $275,000

9-16. Shane Lowry, Bubba Watson, Fredrik Jacobsen, Nicolas Colsaerts, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Martin Kaymer, Scott Piercy, Tim Clark, $144,000

17-32. Second round losers, $96,000

33-64. First round losers, $46,000

A division victory is on the line Week 17 when the Arizona Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers in what could be Larry Fitzgerald's final game with the franchise. It's not clear whether Ryan Lindley or Brian Hoyer will start at quarterback for Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals finish a dismal season against the San Francisco 49ers in a game with playoff implications, but not for the Cardinals.

Sunday's game could be Larry Fitzgerald's last in an Arizona uniform. Brian Hoyer came in last week to replace Ryan Lindley, although it's not clear who will start at quarterback. Lindley has thrown seven interceptions without a touchdown in his rookie season. The Niners would seal an NFC West title with the win.

Elsewhere in the league, every team is playing another squad from their division as the NFL wanted to pack the final week of the season with rivalries to keep as many divisional titles in play as possible. The only game between teams still vying for the title is the NFC East showdown between the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, with the winner coming away with the division and the loser likely missing out on the playoffs, although scenarios could play out where Washington still advances with a win.
