Slade Heathcott has a monster day at the plate and Bobby Cassevah is impressive on the mound as Scottsdale blows out Peoria.

The Arizona Fall League continued on Tuesday with three games among some of the hopeful up-and-comers of minor and Major League Baseball. Mesa rallied in the ninth to edge out Phoenix for a 7-5 win. Jonathan Schoop, a touted prospect in the Orioles system, went two for four with a long homer, leading Mesa to the victory. On the other side, Josh Prince, a Brewers prospect, went deep for the Phoenix Desert Dogs.

It wasn't quite as close in the Scottsdale vs. Peoria game, as the Scorpions poured it on for a 12-2 win. Slade Heathcott had the best day at the dish in the Fall League, going four for five with three extra base hits. Heathcott legged out two triples and smashed a double, finishing with five RBI in one of the most impressive games so far this year. Heathcott was a first round pick of the Yankees in 2009, a team that appears to be in desperate need of hitting after flaming out in the 2012 MLB Playoffs. On the mound for Scottsdale, it was Bobby Cassevah who cruised to the win -- striking out five and giving up no runs in five innings of work.

In the third game of the day, Salt River rallied in the late innings to beat Surprise, 4-3. Kent Matthes did most of the damage at the plate, finishing two for four with a homer and three RBI. Carlos Sanchez also had a three-hit day, and added the fourth RBI. But it was the homer by Matthes that proved to be the difference, ripping one over the wall in the bottom of the eighth for the win.

Cardinals tight end Todd Heap responds to comments made by Darnell Dockett about the team's need for players to get out of the training room and back on the field.

The Cardinals are mired in a four-game losing streak, and outspoken defensive lineman Darnell Dockett fired a public broadside at some of his unnamed teammates -- stating that his coach called out players who need to get out of the training room and on the field. One player who's been pestered by injuries during his time in Arizona is tight end Todd Heap. The veteran joined Arizona Sports 620 and was asked whether he thought Dockett's comments about getting out on the field were directed at him (via Adam Green of Arizona Sports):

"I don't know exactly who those comments are directed at," Heap said. "If they were directed at me, I hope he would come and talk to me."

Nursing a knee injury, Heap has not played since the Week 2 upset of the Patriots on the road. He also missed several games last year in his first season with the Cardinals.

Heap was quick to delineate the difference between playing with pain and playing injured, and ineffective. The tight end is a pretty cool and even-keeled veteran, and he indicated that it won't be helpful to the team if he's struggling to run, and can't be as effective as the alternative:

"Does it help to go out and limp off the field every other play?

"I don't think that's going to help our team right now."

The Cardinals will need all the healthy, and semi-healthy bodies available this week as they face one of the elite teams in the NFC, the Packers. Green Bay has won three straight and they'll be playing in the friendly confines of Lambeau Field. It would be a huge boost for the Cards if they can pull off another road upset before the bye week.

The Cardinals waived fullback Reagan Maui'a and signed linebacker Zack Nash off the practice squad as the team looks for depth along the defensive side of the ball.

The Arizona Cardinals made a series of related roster moves this week, releasing fullback Reagan Maui'a and signing linebacker Zack Nash off the practice squad. Nash, an undrafted free agent rookie from Sacramento State, will take Maui'a's spot on the 53-man active roster as the Cardinals head to Green Bay on a four-game losing streak. Maui'a played in three games for the Cardinals, hauling in one catch for seven yards.

Nash was an under-the-radar prospect in April's Draft, but he set multiple school sack records at Sacramento State. He was signed at the end of April during the NFL's round of undrafted free agent pick ups, but he was released at the end of camp. The Cardinals brought him back and signed him to the practice squad at the end of September, and now the unheralded linebacker has worked his way onto the active roster. He'll wear No. 59.

Arizona also signed linebacker Tim Fugger to the practice squad. Fugger was a 7th Round pick by the Colts this year, but he was released at the end of the preseason.
