After a successful season that ended with a victory over the in-state rival Arizona Wildcats, the Arizona State Sun Devils will travel to San Francisco to take on the Navy Midshipmen in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec. 29.
Arizona State features the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Year in defensive end Will Sutton as well as quarterback Taylor Kelly, who passed for 25 touchdowns in 2012, both of whom helped the Sun Devils record a winning record in the Pac-12 and end their season on a two-game winning streak.
After starting their first season under Todd Graham 5-1, the Sun Devils dropped four straight, but rebounded nicely at the end of the year to salvage the promising start. Now the team will get a chance to end the season on a high note if they can top a dangerous Navy squad.
Navy, a FBS independent school, ended its season on a two-game winning streak of its own, including a victory in the famed Army-Navy showdown the weekend after most football teams' seasons had come to a close.
Navy has featured an array of performers all season, as only running back Gee Gee Greene accounted for more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the 8-4 Midshipmen. Quarterback Keenan Reynolds was efficient, however, passing for eight touchdowns to just one interception.
