Arizona St. Sun Devil junior Kyle Middlebrooks will miss the team's bowl game, reports Doug Haller. Middlebrooks, who returns kicks for ASU and lines up at wide receiver, suffered a knee injury in the Sun Devils' win over the Arizona Wildcats.
The loss is likely more significant to Middlebrooks than to the team. He has seen limited action in 2012, catching only one pass (six yards against Utah) and returning only two kicks (one against USC, the other Arizona for 11 total yards). That's down significantly from 2011, when he had 19 catches for 135 yards and 17 returns averaging 23 yards each. Rashad Ross has taken over for ASU on kick returns, and there hasn't been much room for Middlebrooks in the receiving corps.
The location and opponent for Arizona State's bowl game are still unknown, but SB Nation predicted a spot in the New Mexico Bowl, likely facing San Diego State.
