ASU vs Colorado: Graham gives walk-on kicker practice reps over Garoutte

Arizona State head coach Todd Graham has given walk-on Jon Mora first-team reps over starting kicker Alex Garoutte.

Arizona State Sun Devils kicker Alex Garoutte is taking practice kicks behind sophomore walk-on Jon Mora, The Arizona Republic's Doug Haller reports. Head coach Todd Graham said that if his team played the Colorado Buffaloes Tuesday instead of Thursday, Mora would be his starter.

Graham added that he plans to discuss the matter more in depth.

Graham said that consistency is of key concern, according to ArizonaSports.com.

"I'll be real honest with you, we've got three guys I think that can do it," Graham said, adding junior Dillon Jackson into the conversation. "But we need one that makes them all the time."

The controversy is nothing new for the Sun Devils, who again find themselves with a mediocre kicking game, as House of Sparky analyzes.

Mora only has one kick to his name, a missed 40-yard attempt against Utah earlier this season.

Garoutte, a sophomore, has made 6-of-10 field goals so far this year. He struggled two weeks ago against the California Golden Bears, missing on tries of 30, 37 and 39 yards. The 37-yard attempt was blocked. As a freshman, Garoutte hit 15-of-22 attempts.

Jackson has not attempted a field goal.
