The Arizona State Sun Devils were dominated from start to finish by the Oregon Ducks on Thursday night en route to a belittling 43-21 loss. The game itself was a showcase for No. 3 Oregon on a nationally televised stage and, at the same time, an embarrassment for Arizona State.
The game is one that Sun Devil fans should quickly forget, according to Brad Denny of SB Nation's Arizona State blog, House of Sparky. Not only did Arizona State lose handily to Oregon, but the Sun Devils lost one of their key starters on defense, defensive tackle Will Sutton, to injury.
Sutton forced a fumble from Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota but injured his knee in the process on the second play of the game. Sutton was seen walking with crutches on the sideline after the injury and his status for the rest of the season remains to be determined.
"It's not often that the second play of the game was the best and the worst for a team," Denny wrote. "Such was the case for Arizona State on Thursday night."
