Oregon vs. Arizona State update: Ducks dominate following Will Sutton's departure, lead 22-7

Arizona State got off to a hot start with a quick takeaway and score but since then, it's been all Oregon as the Ducks have scored three unanswered touchdowns to take a 22-7 first quarter lead.

The Sun Devils won the coin flip but curiously chose to defer to the explosive Oregon offense. Obviously Todd Graham knew something the fans didn't though because Will Sutton forced a Marcus Mariota fumble on just the second snap of the game. Unfortunately for Arizona State, there was a bit of a trade off with the turnover as Sutton was lost for the game after suffering a right leg injury on the play.

But Sutton's big play wouldn't go to waste as Taylor Kelly hooked up with Kevin Ozier on the Devil's first play from scrimmage for a 28-yard touchdown.

That lead wouldn't hold for long though. Following a Mariota incompletion on first down, RB Kenjon Barner busted right through the hole left by Sutton for a 71-yard touchdown, the longest play the Devils have allowed all season. The Ducks then chose to send a message to ASU on the point after, completing a two-point conversion with punter Jackson Rice's tipped pass finding the hands of kicker Rob Beard.

Shortly after a 43-yard missed field goal from ASU's Alex Garoutte, the Ducks would build their lead with 14-play drive that concluded with Mariota lofting a beauty to WR Bralon Addison for a six-yard score.

And on Oregon's next drive, they'd find pay dirt yet again. After Barner's one-yard touchdown was taken off the board due to the previous play being under review, Mariota flipped the ball to a wide open Bryan Bennett from two yards away as the quarterback was being brought down by multiple defenders.

The quarter ended with the Devils on their own 25 trying to convert a third and two.
