Arizona Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez is attempting to mask the lack of depth on his defense by changing players' positions, and he's even bringing offensive players across the line of scrimmage.
The most recent move came with spur safety Marquis Flowers shifting to the outside linebacker spot a week before the Wildcats kick off their season on Saturday against the Toledo Rockets.
Per Ryan Finley of the Arizona Daily Star:
"Flowers, an Avondale native, is one of a handful of players who have changed positions with an eye on improving the defense. Fullback Taimi Tutogi has been taking snaps at defensive end over the last few weeks, while a pair of freshmen - Keoni Bush-Loo and Anthony Lopez - have been moved to linebacker from tight end and safety, respectively."
Another example of Rodriguez filling in the depth chart is Greg Nwoko, who has played fullback at Arizona and is returning this season after an ACL injury. Nwoko is now listed on the UA roster as a linebacker.
