ASU Sun Devils: Trent Lockett To Transfer To Marquette University

The rumors and discussion surrounding Trent Lockett, the Arizona State Sun Devils' senior-to-be, have been settled. Per Jeff Goodman, the basketball star will transfer to Marquette University. Lockett had been granted a release from his scholarship in March, and today it became clear where he would play his final year. Lockett was quick to confirm the news via Twitter:

I've been a sundevil since 16. I love and appreciate the people and experience at ASU. Saying that, I am excited to finish my last yr at MU!

Despite injuries in his most recent season Lockett managed to contribute 13 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, similar to his All Pac-10 second team numbers from 2010-2011. In that season he averaged 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He is headed to a Marquette squad coming off a 27-8 season that included an NCAA tournament run. In contrast to some of the more recent departures from the ASU basketball program, Lockett is transferring for family reasons and made it clear that he holds no ill will towards the program.
