Future Wildcat Brandon Ashley Scores 31 In National High School Invitational Championship

Brandon Ashley, who committed to the Arizona Wildcats for the 2012 season, led Finley Prep to an overtime victory to win the ESPN National High School Invitational Championship on Saturday by scoring 31 points against Montverde. Finley Prep was down by 18 points in the third quarter and thanks to Ashley, they came out on top.

From the Las Vegas Suns' Taylor Bern:

Findlay tried to chip away at the lead, but it grew to 18 in the third quarter as Montverde kept hitting shots and the Pilots missed a few easy ones.

And that's when Ashley took over. Jumpers, layups and especially free throws - he was 15-of-16 at the line - suddenly gave Findlay life. Montverde started collapsing under the pressure, committing 10 turnovers in the fourth quarter.

Ashley tied the game at the free-throw line and Williams-Goss forced an off-balance 3-pointer from Hill that missed the mark, sending the game to overtime.

Ashley is a top-10 prospect and one of the recruits in a major class for the Arizona Wildcats that will likely help them step up their game in the PAC-12 in 2012.
