Arizona vs. Stanford: Wildcats, Cardinal looking to end losing skids

The Wildcats and Cardinal are both coming off tough losses last weekend.

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Arizona Wildcats and Stanford Cardinal meet this weekend in Palo Alto for a key Pac-12 matchup. Despite featuring plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, the two teams have combined to go 1-3 in conference play thus far. The Cardinal lost to Washington last weekend, while Arizona fell short to Oregon State at home.

Now that we are a couple of weeks into the season, it's time for teams to start emerging if they hope to reach a bowl game. Here is what SB Nation's Pac-12 blog, Pacific Takes, had to say about Stanford responding to their first loss of the season and what needs to happen against Arizona.

I'm interested to see how Josh Nunes responds to his first career loss and what changes, if any, are evident in the play calling. Arizona's defense doesn't exactly inspire fear, but the Cardinal offense didn't inspire much confidence against Washington. Stepfan Taylor was a non-factor against the Huskies; that needs to change this week.

Stanford should have no problem moving the ball against the Wildcats, who have surrendered 35 points or more to three of the four FBS schools they've faced this season. Given the injuries and weak defensive line, Taylor will likely be in for a big day.
