The Arizona Wildcats proved their in-state dominance on Sunday evening in Tempe, putting on a clinic against the Sun Devils and improving their record to 21-4 on the season. UA defeated ASU 67-52 in a lopsided affair.
Kyle Fogg led all scorers with 26 points, while ASU seniors Ty Abbott and Rihards Kuksiks went a combined 2-10 from beyond the arc. Between the poor long distance shooting and the meager free throw percentage (57.1%), the Sun Devils never had a chance.
The real question: what happened to Trent Lockett? He only made 3 of his 10 shooting attempts, and only made 4 of 8 free throws. This performance was not what you’d expect from the team’s best player, and the lack of big time shooting was the obvious reason for this loss.
Arizona just outplayed the Devils tonight, from start to finish. Derrick Williams fouled out and only scored 11 points, but that was all that the Wildcats needed from their superstar forward.
They just didn’t have it tonight, friends. That’s ten straight Pac-10 losses and no end to the pain in sight. Herb Sendek needs to get some more continuity from game to game, and hopefully the recruit pipeline brings in more wins next year.
