The Arizona Wildcats needed to get back on their feet after a tough loss to Gonzaga and they did exactly that on Tuesday night against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. The UA led a majority of the way and used big nights from Solomon Hill, Kyle Fogg and Jesse Perry for the victory.
In front of a packed house at McKale Center, Hill went for 23 points and 11 rebounds after struggling mightily over the weekend. Fogg scored 17, brought down six rebounds and dished out three assists, while Perry recorded 13 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard Nick Johnson did not have a great night shooting the ball, but still managed to end with seven points, four rebounds and six assists.
Oakland was led my star point guard Reggie Hamilton, who hit 12 of his 21 shots on his way to 31 points. Despite tough defense from the Wildcats throughout the game, Hamilton was simply too good and was locked in from behind the arc. Travis Bader scored 17 and brought down five rebounds as well.
Arizona needed a big win and they came through on Tuesday against a quality opponent in Oakland. Next up is Bryant University, a tune-up game before the holiday break.
