The Arizona Wildcats have already secured the No. 1 recruiting class for 2012 and the team may not be done yet. With a combo-guard (Gabe York), two forwards (Brandon Ashley, Grant Jerrett) and a center (Kaleb Tarczewski) already committed, it only makes sense Sean Miller would pursue a player capable of running point guard. That is exactly what he and the UA coaching staff have done with Amedeo Della Valle.
Della Valle, who came over from Europe during the summer and is now at Findlay Prep alongside Brandon Ashley, is a 6'4 guard capable of playing both positions on the floor. Not blessed with incredible athleticism or speed, ADV does a tremendous job gaining an edge on his defenders with fundamental play and a high basketball IQ. Armed with a lethal shot from behind the arc and an ability to distribute the ball to his teammates, fans can expect to see his name high on the recruiting boards in the coming months.
PointGuardU.com recently interviewed Della Valle to discuss how his recruitment and season have gone. Brandon Ashley makes an appearance as well and proceeds to ask his teammate some great questions.
Arizona is rumored to be the leader for Amedeo, although he has stated multiple times that he will not make a decision until the spring signing period. With the Wildcats losing at least two guards next season, ADV could arrive in Tucson and see immediate playing time.
