Ohio State To Hire Former Wildcat Coach Mike Stoops

The Ohio State Buckeyes have hired former Arizona Wildcats head coach Mike Stoops to be a defensive coordinator on Thursday according to report, joining the recently hired Urban Meyer in his attempts to reinvigorate the program.

Stoops was apparently offered multiple head coaching positions that he eventually turned down, though he woud not disclose what schools they were. Obviously Stoops knows there's probably something special brewing in Columbus these days and wants to be a part of it. Stoops joining Meyer's high-profile staff and having success would likely do just as much for his career as taking a head coaching job at a smaller, less prestigious football program elsewhere, so why not got where you are the likeliest to have success?

Stoops owns a 41-49 record in his eight years with the Wildcats, sporting a 1-2 record in bowl games during his tenure as well. Hopefully he'll find success in Columbus.
