Andrus Peat To Visit Nebraska Cornhuskers, Stanford Cardinal For Sure

Perhaps the top offensive tackle on the West Coast was rumored to have a top two last week--the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Stanford Cardinal. Greg Biggins of ESPN (who posted the original rumor) talked further with Peat in an interview, and provided initial confirmation of that story.

Peat said there are several other schools on his list and he plans to make his next cut after his season.

"I'm looking at Stanford, Texas, Florida, Florida State, USC and Notre Dame still," he said. "I'm close to setting a visit with Stanford, but that's the only school I know I'll be visiting other than Nebraska.

"I really don't have a timeline of when I'll make my commitment. It could be at the UA game, it could be on signing day. Honestly, whenever I know, that's when I'll announce. I would like to take all five visits, but like I said, if I find the right place before taking all of them, I'll go ahead and make my choice."

Nebraska being one of the official visits is not a big deal. We all knew the Huskers would be the likeliest team to be in the mix to get Peat since his brother Todd is already on the team in Lincoln. That Stanford has suddenly entered the mix for Peat is a bit of a surprise. But it makes sense. Peat could compete for immediate playing time with top Stanford tackle Jonathan Martin graduating, and that officially fulfills one of Peat's criteria for a college team he'd be interested in joining.

Peat also talks in this article about being interested in the big names like Texas, Florida, Florida State, USC and Notre Dame. But for now, the Corona del Sol football star has two big targets.
