Wildcats Win In Desert, 80-69 Over Sun Devils

Tucson, AZ (Sports Network) – Derrick Williams set a new career high with 31 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds, as the Arizona Wildcats dismissed the Arizona State Sun Devils, 80-69, in Pac-10 action at the McKale Center.

Jesse Perry scored 13 points and Solomon Hill added 11 for Arizona (15-3, 4-1 Pac-10), winners of three straight.

Trent Lockett led ASU (9-8, 1-4) with 17 points, while Ty Abbott scored 14 and Carrick Felix added 11 in a losing effort.

Arizona seized control with an 18-3 run in the first half, which gave the Wildcats a 29-18 lead with 5:49 remaining until halftime.

The Wildcats struggled from the floor in the second stanza (35.7 percent), but they were able to keep ASU at arm’s length by sinking 16-of-19 free throws.

Arizona held a 35-21 rebounding advantage for the game, including a 14-4 edge on the offensive glass. The Wildcats also out-scored the Sun Devils at the foul line, 26-13.
