The ASU baseball team will not get to go to the postseason because of NCAA violations under previous manager Pat Murphy. However, they are still a very talented group. In fact, their current manager, Tim Esmay, hit a notable milestone at ASU. The 11-2 win over UC Riverside was his 100th as manager of the Devils.
↵That is great. However, what is even more impressive is how long it took to get there. His managing record is 100-29. That is a .775 winning percentage.
↵It is a shame that college baseball does not get more play here locally, because ASU is consistently competitive and has some great talent year after year.
↵Here in Arizona, the state of sports has mostly been woeful. Yet we have a successful team that gets only minor support. Now would be the time to pay attention. The Devils are very good and they have a manager that is doing great things.
↵Congratulations, Tim Esmay, and here's hoping for another 100 victories at an even quicker rate.
