For the first time this season, the Arizona State Sun Devils received more votes in the Associated Press poll than the Arizona Wildcats.
Neither team was ranked in the top 25 of the Week 6 poll, but both teams received votes. At 4-1 and coming off of back-to-back Pac-12 wins, the Sun Devils received 15 votes in the poll this week, their highest total this season. Arizona State nearly doubled its previous season high of eight votes.
Arizona picked up four votes despite losing its second straight game. The Wildcats lost 38-35 to then-No. 18 Oregon State on a late fourth-quarter touchdown. This is the third straight week Arizona has dropped in the poll. They went from 296 points and the No. 22 team in Week 4, to unranked and receiving 17 votes last week, to now getting four votes.
If the Wildcats are going to get back into the poll, it won't be easy. All four of their next opponents are currently ranked, meaning the Wildcats could have a stretch of six straight games against a ranked opponent.
