Deantre Lewis On Defense? Get Him On The Field Somehow

Sun Devil fans, do you remember Deantre Lewis? He seems like a faded memory. His freshman season was exciting, as he has some electrifying runs and catches that turned into long gains with his running. He was shot in the leg and redshirted last season. Now he finds himself simply as one of many talented running backs and has yet to find the field, as Cameron Marshall, D.J. Foster and Marion Grice have been the ones to get the carries.

But now there is a new way to get Lewis on the field -- putting him on defense.

ASU has little depth in the defensive backfield. They have a lot of depth at running back. Lewis wants to play defense. ASU has had success with running backs becoming great defensive players.

Remember Terrell Suggs? He happened to be the best high school running back in the state. He is now the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Not that I am equating Lewis to Suggs, but if you can, you put your best talent on the field. Here you have a talented football player that wants to get on the field. By all means, do it -- and in this case, there is no reason not to. The team could use the help in coverage and Lewis is fast a talented.

We saw the impact he could make as a freshman. Let's give him to the chance to do it again, even if it is at a different position.
