With the 57th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos have selected Brock Osweiler, junior quarterback out of Arizona State University. Osweiler had a breakout year with the Sun Devils last season, throwing for 4,036 yards and 26 touchdowns. He completed slightly more than 63% of his pass attempts while running a spread offense.
Osweiler has a very high upside given his size (6'6, 230lbs) and features a strong throwing arm, although he is still pretty raw as far as being a quarterback goes. He only played one and a half seasons with ASU as the starter, leading his team to the Las Vegas Bowl in 2011.
Most mock drafts had Osweiler going in the second or third round in the 2012 NFL Draft. He will likely need some time to develop behind Peyton Manning the next few years, but Osweiler could have a very long and successful career as a professional should he be given proper time to come into his own.
