Stanford Cruises By ASU 68-44, Bachynski Scores Career-high

Before the road trip to Northern California, Arizona State head coach Herb Sendek was in a particularly positive mood, tweeting, "How about a sweep this weekend?" The start of the game between the Sun Devils and Stanford Cardinal looked like ASU could start off the weekend right, but things changed quickly as Stanford ran away with a 68-44 win in conference play.

They took an early 12-7 and 14-9 lead in the first half, but then everything sort of fell apart. The rest of the first half, the Sun Devils hit only one more field goal and the entire first half they did not log a single assist. Meanwhile, built an eight-point lead into the half.

The second half was all Stanford. They put up an additional 40 points, starting the second half with an 8-0 and 11-2 run.

Arizona State shot only 36 percent, was outrebounded 38-24, only had four assists and turned the ball over 14 times.

Not everything was bad as starting center Jordan Bachynski followed his career-high last weekend with another career high, he netted 20 points on 10-12 shooting.

For Stanford, Aaron Bright scored 16 and Chasson Randle added 14.

The Sun Devils move on to play Cal Saturday at noon Arizona time.
