NFL Mock Draft 2012: Arizona State ILB Vontaze Burfict May Go To Eagles In Second Round

The 2012 NFL Draft is fast approaching. More and more analysts continue to weigh in with mock drafts and other analysis. One of the latest mock drafts has a suggestion concerning Arizona St. Sun Devils linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

In their latest mock draft, the website Draft Tek suggests that Burfict may be selected early in the second round, going to the Philadelphia Eagles as the No. 46 overall pick. Here is what Joe Mays of Draft Tek has to say:

It's no secret that the Eagles need to overhaul their LB corp this offseason. Despite finishing 8th in total yards allowed/per game, the Eagles had trouble against the run. They finished tied for 19th in yards/rush (4.4), 16th in rushing yards/game (112.6) and were prone to allowing big runs (tied for 16th in runs over 20 yards, tied for 26th in runs over 40 yards). The LB group was a disaster at times. The strongest of the gang was OLB Rolle according to Pro Football Focus' proprietary rankings. Chaney, Matthews and the rest were downright atrocious. The Eagles need a MLB and an OLB added before training camp. It's likely that one will be taken in the first 3 rounds in April. Burfict's physical attributes make his selection here an absolute steal. He's a monster MLB that could revolutionize the Eagles D with his play. The reason he's still available is character concerns and attitude issues. However his talent would be hard to pass up.

The Eagles certainly have some holes on their defense that they will need to shore up following their disappointing "Dream Team" season in 2011.
