The Arizona Wildcats are 20-4, ranked 15th in the nation, and are coming off a three overtime victory over California. ASU is 9-14, ranked last in the Pac-10 with a miserable 1-10 conference record. All that being said, there should still be an electric atmosphere at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe on Sunday evening when UA and the Sun Devils clash.
↵According to ASU media relations, there were only 1,000 remaining tickets available for the game, all priced at $40. While the Sun Devils haven't been wildly successful against ranked competition during Herb Sendek's tenure, they have managed to pull off some big wins:
↵HERB SENDEK WINS VS. RANKED TEAMS AT ASU
ASU 68, #24 Washington 51 (Jan. 8, 2010)
#23 ASU 75, #13 Washington 65/P10 Tourney (Mar. 13, 2009)
#18 ASU 74, #11 UCLA 67 (Feb. 12, 2009)
#16 ASU 61, @#9 UCLA 58 (OT), Jan. 17, 2009
ASU 72, #7 Stanford 68 (OT), Feb. 14, 2008
ASU 77, #17 Xavier 55, Dec. 15, 2007 (largest win over ranked team in ASU history)
ASU 68, #22 USC 58, Feb. 18, 2007
Outside of the victory against Washington in January 2010 and the victory over USC in February 2007, every win on this list came with the assistance of James Harden and Jeff Pendergraph. ASU is a markedly different team in 2011, dealing with injuries and a lack of experience from their young players. Derrick Williams of Arizona is one of the top players in the nation and will attempt to silence the loud home crowd.
↵Expect a good matchup tomorrow, and don't hesitate to grab a ticket before they are all gone.
